Event Highlights and Prizes

With $1,500 in total prize money, the 2026 Juried Art Show offers exciting opportunities for participating artists, including:

  • First Prize: $600
  • Second Prize: $400
  • Third Prize: $200
  • Juror’s Impact Award: $100
  • Honorable Mentions: At the discretion of the juror

Winners will be announced at the Awards Reception on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 3-5 PM.


Who Can Enter?

Calling all artists! Showcase your creativity with:

  • Two-dimensional, original artwork on paper, canvas, or board, including photography.
  • All works must be original and conceived by the artist.
  • No computer-generated, digital, or AI-altered works are allowed.

Please note: Diptychs and triptychs are accepted as one entry within a single frame, and all artwork must be suitable for a family audience.


Entry Fee and Submission

Entry Fee:

  • $10 per piece (non-refundable donation)
  • No limit on the number of entries

Submission Deadline:

  • August 14, 2026 (by midnight)

Accepted Works and Exhibition Guidelines

  • Artists will be notified by August 31, 2026.
  • Selected artwork must be delivered to MacCallum More Museum & Gardens by
    • Saturday - September 5, 2026 from 10-12
    • Sunday - September 6, 2026 from 1-3
  • Not all submitted artwork will be featured in the museum.
  • All accepted pieces must be for sale.

Awards Reception and Exhibit Dates

  • Awards Reception: Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 3-5 PM
  • Exhibit Duration: September 13 - October 26, 2026

Meet the Juror:

Veronica Jackson – 2026 Juror

Veronica Jackson (b. Washington, DC) critically examines the lives of Black women who mark space through memory, object, and text. Her background as an interpretive exhibit designer and architect informs the foundation of her visual art practice, where she uses familiar materials and language to tell layered personal and collective stories. Jackson holds an MA in Visual & Critical Studies from California College of the Arts, San Francisco, and a BS in Architecture from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.

She has participated in artist residencies at Santa Fe Art Institute (NM), Ali Youssefi Project WAL/Verge Center for the Arts (CA), Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VA), Women’s Studio Workshop (NY), Rosendale (NY), and the Visual Arts Center of Richmond (VA). Her work has been exhibited widely in group and solo shows including NYU Tisch School of the Arts (NYC); Verge Center for the Arts (CA); FLOW Art Festival, Chroma Projects, McGuffey Art Center, Piedmont Virginia Community College, and UVA School of Architecture (VA); The Arts Center in Orange (VA); Bower Center for the Arts (VA); Riverviews Artspace and Daura Museum of Art at the University of Lynchburg (VA); and the Visual Arts Center of Richmond (VA).

Jackson’s work is held in private collections as well as the Virginia Humanities, Charlottesville, and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond. She currently resides in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Central Virginia.
