About Beverly

Beverly Wood is a film industry veteran, event planner, and passionate community advocate with a rich career spanning Hollywood’s most renowned productions. A Chase City native, Beverly spent years working in the film industry in Hollywood, California, where she rose to the role of Executive Vice President at DELUXE ENTERTAINMENT. Specializing in post-production, she collaborated with legendary filmmakers, including Quentin Tarantino, Ron Howard, and the Coen brothers, overseeing the final stages of film production both in film and digitally.

Her contributions to the scientific advancements in filmmaking earned her the prestigious Natalie Kalmus Award (2020), recognizing her impact on the technical artistry of cinema.

Connection to MacCallum More & The Mecca Theatre

Returning to Chase City, Beverly now dedicates her talents and experience to MacCallum More Museum & Gardens and the historic Mecca Theatre restoration project. She is the main driving force behind the Mecca’s revitalization and recently secured a $750,000 grant (2025) to fund its restoration. Her leadership is ensuring that this historic venue will be restored as a cultural and performing arts hub for the community.

As a member of the Event Planning Committee, Beverly brings her organizational expertise and creative vision to curating unforgettable experiences at MacCallum More. She is also an active participant in the Speaker’s Bureau, sharing her knowledge and insights with the community.

She is also leading efforts to restore the Mecca Theatre, securing funding, organizing restoration efforts, and ensuring its future as a vibrant cultural venue. Through her work with the Speaker’s Bureau, she helps connect audiences with the history, culture, and creative legacy of MacCallum More.
