Mary Anne Wood is a Chase City native with a deep appreciation for history, design, and community preservation. Her extensive retail experience and interior design expertise, paired with her natural good taste, make her an integral part of MacCallum More Museum & Gardens. As Vice President, she plays a vital role in shaping the future of membership engagement, historical restoration, and community outreach.

Mary Anne has been involved with MacCallum More for many years, bringing her vision and leadership to several key committees. She currently serves as:

  • Chair of the Membership and Hudgins House Committees

  • Member of the Gift Shop Committee

  • Trustee, Prestwould Foundation, Clarksville, VA

  • Trustee and Deacon, First Baptist Church

  • Charter Member, Save Our Heritage, Inc. (Dedicated to preserving Chase City’s historic buildings, including the Southside Roller Mill and Mecca Theatre)

  • Charter Member, Up Town at the Lee, Inc. (Focused on revitalizing downtown Chase City through arts and historic preservation)

  • Member of the Fortnightly Club of Chase City (A civic womans club that gives back to the community)

🌿 Favorite Garden Spot: Fish pond with a replica of “Putto with Dolphin” because of childhood memories of playing wedding there.

🗿 Favorite Statue or Sculpture: The Lion (now in the museum) originally in Mrs. Hudgins garden
