About Richie
F.W. “Richie” Richards, Jr. is a lifelong Chase City resident, pharmacist, and dedicated community leader. With over 49 years of experience running a successful pharmacy, Richie brings deep financial and operational expertise to his role as President of MacCallum More Museum & Gardens. He is passionate about preserving the rich history of Chase City and ensuring MacCallum More remains a vital part of the community.
Richie completed two years of pre-pharmacy at Virginia Tech and in 1974 he graduated, with honors, from MCV/VCU School of Pharmacy in Richmond. He has devoted his career to serving others. Beyond his professional work, he has a long history of volunteerism and civic leadership, having held key positions in multiple organizations, including:

Chase City Lions Club – Served for over 18 years, holding nearly every office.

Chase City Jaycees – Served as Treasurer for over 15 years.

Sons of the American Legion – Actively involved in veteran and community initiatives.

Save Our Heritage & Uptown at The Lee – Founding member and current Treasurer, supporting the preservation of historic properties.

Concord Baptist Church – Serves on multiple committees, contributing to the church’s choir (member), outreach, and community engagement.

🪶 Favorite Native American Artifact: Finds them all interesting.
📜 Favorite Historic Feature: The foresight and determination of Billy Hudgins to collect materials from around the area and to ship all the artifacts from around the world to complete the dream.
🎉 Most Memorable MacCallum More Experience: Witnessing Mother Nature in full bloom, a nice breeze blowing, and talented musicians playing good music with plenty to eat and drink.

When I was asked to join the Board of MacCallum More Museum & Gardens, I was truly honored. Like many others, I was not fully aware of what we had right here in Chase City. My eyes were opened.
